These works are from a series of four works that attempted to visually represent the remnants of garment production. The leather and chain links were sourced from the thrift store, cut and formed into the chainmail depicted.The second work is composed of the remnants from making the chain mail on the. This series uses the entirety of the materials gathered to construct it.
Leilah Talukder is a Bay Area based Bangladeshi American multimedia artist with degrees from UC Berkeley in Art Practice and Art History. Her wearables and sculptures make use of recycled and discarded material that has been recovered from thrift stores, the street, and dumpsters. She is currently in residence at Recology San Francisco where she is creating a fashion show for the 30 Year Anniversary show honoring the AIR program.
