Broken Clocks, 2020 - Serving the People
Broken Clocks, 2020

Cameron Milton
Digital Painting/Print
12 x 8
30.48 x 20.82

This piece reads a message about life-lines: things of habit and creature-comfort and the cyclical days that confusion and frustration are tied to. It’s about lurid sentiment, and an over-saturated mentality. It’s about the colors of lived experience when pain is layered, when caring is dimensional and hard and the alchemy of our daily life- the sorcerer’s hand.

Chainmail Bikini, 2020 - Serving the People
Chainmail Bikini, 2020

Emma Fasciolo
Aluminum Chain
16 x 12 x 8
41 x 30 x 20

Along with wearable chainmail, Emma Fasciolo’s practice leans toward conceptual, three-dimensional sculptures and installations; all of which address her personal relationship to control, comfort and the artificial qualities that are present in society today. Her subject matter includes chains, fences, thorns and barriers—symbols of control and security. Her symbols reference the more vulnerable in society, such as women and those who are marginalized. A corresponding theme involves a juxtaposition of the man-made and the organic; the artificial and the natural.

Johan Orellana
Digital Photograph, Full Frame DSLR

This photograph symbolizes the freedom that the self seeks for when their world is falling apart. I took this photograph while exploring Manhattan Beach's hectic activity after beaches in New York City had been reopened. It was a moment of quietness among the non-stoping moving.

Lacan't Understand You - Serving the People
Lacan't Understand You

Marissa Delano
Watercolor painting
5 x 7 inches
12.7 x 17.78 centimeters

French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan is a controversial figure for many thinkers, as his wife Sylvia estimated, Lacan was a genius in his own right but admittedly, "a domestic tyrant." During quarantine my friend Lily was finishing her philosophy program and started a "Lacan book club" eventually spinning off into a wider scope of materials. The paintings come from a meme, the making of which became an adjacent activity in our group to dealing with dense Lacanian texts.
