Priscila Cordero was born and raised in Costa Rica, moved to the United States by the age of 13. She currently lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland, as she completes her BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture and pursues her Masters in the art teaching program at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Cordero is fascinated by the psychological and sociological aspects that trigger an individual's involuntary response to familiar yet unfamiliar objects concentrating on "subject and object" and "action and reaction." Trained in ceramics, casting, and metalworking, she incorporates these elements to create fleshy silicone sculptures supported by metal structures. In her artwork, the exploration of materiality and techniques serve a high purpose to generate a disturbance with competing dualities of seduction and repulsion to provoke sensory experiences to her audience.
