Que Descanse En Paz Hand-built stoneware 2020 The title of this piece translates to “Rest in peace” as a way of putting my own mind at ease and in support to all of those we have lost to suicide. Que descanse en paz contains two parts: the first being the collection of tile pieces, which signifies the fragility of mental health, and the second being the cone shaped pieces, which serve as embodiment's of physical pain. Through the making of 30 to 40 thousand pea-sized spheres, kept together with compression and slip, this piece visualizes small points where we experience pain, which can either result in creating a whole or can keep expanding and growing because it’s never ending.
