Aloha, My name is Jarin Moriguchi and I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I currently attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I am completing my BFA with a focus in painting. For the past three years I've been trying to find my balance between naive and honest work, and formally sound drawings and paintings. This balance represents a harmony between freedom, humor, and dignity. The title of my BFA body of work is "A Guide to the Outdoors and How to Interact with People". That body, along with its sister project that I've been developing since 2018, "Field Guide", attempt to articulate the harmony and disharmony that I've been wrestling with by analyzing and unpacking the nature of a good narrative. The works, including "Tawny's Dilemma" are a residue of this process.  Thank you for your time and consideration! My best, Jarin
